PICASSO’S MOSQUETEROS AT THE GAGOSIAN GALLERY 21ST STREET, IN CHELSEA, NEW YORK, THROUGH JUNE 6TH, 2009

Late work formerly dismissed as a falling off--in energy, invention, formal interest, imagination--is suddenly looking very good. The old musketeer himself takes a farewell look at art. Maybe he was in a hurry. John Richardson, the great biographer who is working away at the fourth and final volume of his Picasso biography, has curated this show of paintings and prints by Picasso when the latter was the same age as Richardson is now. Some of the prints are actually priced so that an ordinary person could buy one.
